Direct both the Bethel Chamber Orchestra, an undergraduate string ensemble of approximately 20 players (with the opportunity to add winds and percussion as needed), and the Bethel Philharmonic Orchestra, an ensemble of community members and current Bethel University students.
* Select repertoire, prepare, and conduct a fall Chamber Orchestra concert and a Spring concert
* Collaborate in two major joint concerts, the Festival of Christmas (fall) and the Classics (spring)
* Lead Chamber Orchestra rehearsals for approximately 90 minutes, three times a week
* Prepare and conduct the Orchestra for additional performances as scheduled
* Help promote the Orchestra and recruit new members
* Contribute to an academic environment that seeks to advance inclusive excellence in the program and the University
* Strong conducting and string pedagogical skills.
* Thorough knowledge of appropriate level orchestral and chamber orchestra repertoire
* Proven ability to collaborate with other directors
* Proven ability to work with students and recruit new members for the orchestra
Experience directing orchestras at the high school or collegiate level required; experience as primary director of college-level ensembles preferred.
Master's degree in music performance or music education is required; Doctorate preferred.
