Key Position Details:

Minneapolis Heart Institute (MHI) is looking for a new Cardiac Rehabilitation Manager to support our new clinic expansion in Eden Prairie, which will be a multi-specialty facility focusing on Cardiac Rehab, Orthopedics, PT/OT, Women's Health, and Primary Care.

This new position will provide oversight over a growing cardiac rehab program within MHI with direct supervision of the Eden Prairie Intensive Cardiac Rehab (CR) multidisciplinary team.

Qualified candidates should be:

- Able to work collaboratively across the system on quality improvement initiatives within cardiac rehab

- Adaptable and able to evolve with cardiac rehab growth at MHI

- Ability to be involved in the community as well as professional cardiac rehabilitation organizations

Candidates should expect:

- To work on location at the Eden Prairie Clinic, with some flexibility to work remotely as needed

- Ability to travel locally across the system and community

- Flexible to support patient care as needed

- Develop a new team of ~6 direct reports, plus oversight of vendor relationship(s) (Pritikin)

- Working full-time, 1.0FTE, Salaried

Job Description:

Provides oversight over cardiac rehab programming within the Minneapolis Heart Institute. Responsible for leading organization through initial launch of the Pritikin Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation (ICR) program and ensuring its success and growth. Provides management support to ICR program within clinical location and hospital Cardiac Rehab (CR) program. Monitors overall program at both campuses and assesses best practices, while also providing day-to-day management of operations and employees at clinic location. Works to establish collaborative processes that promote the quality and cost-effectiveness of cardiac rehabilitation across the organization. Responsible for supporting decisions that impact health care outcomes, resource allocation and customer experience. Engages in quality improvement initiatives and program development.
Principle Responsibilities
  • Daily Operations
    • Manages the overall performance of the clinic operations, and ensure department, hospital and patient needs are met as monitored by metrics.
    • Manages, motivates, and develops staff through meaningful engagement, crucial conversations, performance management, coaching, change management and recognition.
    • Recruits for clinical staff with diverse backgrounds, education and experience and helps ensure a meaningful onboarding & overall positive employee experience.
    • Communicates and collaborates with operations and clinical leaders to optimize services; ensure site and staff have equipment, tools, and resources to be successful and accomplish clinical objectives.
    • Recommends, implements, and evaluates plans and systems that assure sufficient number of staff to provide services; departmental staffing to match volume and service needs.
    • Leads the patient scheduling process.
    • Provides information regarding performance and department-specific activities and accomplishments.
  • Clinical Quality
    • Oversees best practice compliance across hospital off campus and hospital on campus cardiac rehab locations.
    • Serves as primary cardiac rehab liaison and cardiac rehab subject matter expert.
    • Ensures all new employees to complete required training and evaluate staff competencies.
    • Incorporates and works to develop Quality Improvement (QI) data to improve the program and patient outcomes.
    • Collaborates and leads across the system and informally represent services within the community.
  • Program Optimization
    • Systematically enhances the quality and effectiveness of cardiac rehabilitation programming, and where applicable, across the organization.
    • Develops effective business initiatives to ensure high capture rate of cardiac rehab among eligible patient populations to grow patient volume, programs and services consistent with strategic plan.
    • Works in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to see strategies to completion, incorporating sites across the system when able to support standard best practice.
  • Departmental Budget
    • Manages productivity, financial performance and census including data entry and analysis.
    • Accountable for operations within annual or monthly budget
    • Contributes to annual budget process in partnership with local and system leadership.
    • Accountable for minor purchasing and capital purchasing process in collaboration with local hospital and department leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology, Nursing or Nutrition
  • Minimum 3 years of cardiac rehab experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in related clinical field or business administration
  • Intensive Cardiac Rehab experience
  • Experience leading and identifying efforts for program optimization
  • 2 years supervisory or management experience

Licenses/Certifications
  • Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below: Current ACLS and BLS certification from the American Heart Association Current ACLS and BLS certification from the American Red Cross Allina in-house ACLS training (within 90 days of hire)
  • Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below: Certified/Registered Exercise Physiologist Registered Dietician Licensed Registered Nurse
