Summary: A seafood sanitation job involves ensuring the cleanliness and safety of seafood processing facilities. This includes maintaining hygiene standards, sanitizing equipment and surfaces, and following proper food handling protocols. The primary goal is to prevent contamination and maintain the quality of seafood products. Attention to detail, adherence to regulations, and effective communication with team members are essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates with maintenance personnel and other sanitation crew for the dismantling of production line and equipment in preparation for cleaning.
  • Removes totes of fish skins from line and putting skins into discard or other collection containers.
  • Removes used smoke racks from finished production and preps them for cleaning.
  • Push/pulls used smoke racks and will load/unload the rack washer.
  • Organizes and stage clean smoke racks for raw production.
  • Sanitizes and removes debris from all production lines during break periods.
  • Removal of scrap totes from raw production lines when full.
  • Stacks sanitized totes into stacks of 3 for production lines.
  • Fills and loads 5-gallon containers of chemical for small parts washer.
  • Replenishes all personal protective equipment for all lines.
  • Organizes lugs/lids and screens from production lines for night sanitation crew.
  • Sanitizes production equipment in preparation for maintenance and production set-up crews.
  • Cleans and sanitizes all pieces of equipment assigned by Sanitation Manager.
  • Cleans chemical room, process floor, dry goods area, break room, locker room, restroom, and other work areas.
  • Cleans wash buckets, trash cans, handrails, and other equipment assigned by lead or manager until shift ends.
  • Performs laundry duties of smocks, apron, gloves, etc.
  • Cleans and sanitizes utensils throughout the day for production.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • No prior experience or training required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous sanitation within a food facility or food production experience is a plus, but not required.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is frequently required to climb or balance.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

The employee moves objects

  • regularly up to 10 pounds
  • frequently up to 25 pounds
  • occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between a series of numbers. Ability to write and speak simple sentences. Ability to add and subtract two-digitnumbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using US currency and weight measurement, volume and distance.

This is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate $21.50to $29.49.
