Job Description

CNC Router Operator

2nd Shift 5:00pm- 3:30am

We are looking for a CNC Router Operator who will report to the Fabrication Supervisor, and who'll be tasked with supporting the production of aluminum fishing boats by supplying departments with clean, high quality, accurate to print aluminum, plastic or wood parts of various size, shape, thickness, and dimension which are cut by a CNC router.

YOU'LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Conduct machine set-up which includes inspections, tool alignment, test plates and measuring machine accuracy.
  • Conduct quality checks of production ensuring all parts for burrs, sharp edges, slag, and appropriately spaced drill holes; deburr parts. Test parts using measuring devices such as calipers, tape measures and micrometers.
  • Set-up jobs by manually loading and unloading parts onto machines, fastening to tables using hand tools, load parts onto carts.
  • Run CNC router programs, modify programs based on defects, machine malfunctions and other applicable incidents.
  • Conduct machine maintenance including but not limited to inspecting tools, spindles, collets, and end mills, replacing worn tools, using sight gauges to monitor oil and other assigned operator preventative maintenance according to manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Learn and operate other machines and equipment as necessary such as decoiler, forklift, tugger, aluminum baler, bandsaw, and sweeper.
  • Clean work area and maintain walkways free of litter and clutter, clean machines, sweep aluminum chips and other debris, keep personal effects stored appropriately.
  • Participate in daily morning meetings including stretching activities, assist with incident investigations, continuous improvement initiatives, and quality improvements.
  • Follow all internal processes and procedures including incident reporting, rework escalation, and stop-call-wait.
  • Assist in training other employees on equipment and department procedures, engage in effective conversations with team members and leaders, escalate and discuss issues or potential issues to leads and supervisors.
  • Pull parts according to part list and place them on appropriate carts, ensuring Kanban cards are passed on for part replenishment.

YOU'LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Required:

  • 6+ months experience in machine operation
  • 6+ months experience reading prints/shop cards, schedules, and rework logs.
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills and experience with software for programming machines.
  • Ability to prioritize job's and communicate necessary information to peers and supervisors.
  • Demonstrated understanding of machine guarding, machine isolation (LOTO), and general safety operating procedures.
  • Experience reading operating manuals, written programs, and written instructions.
  • Ability to follow instructions and effectively execute procedures.
  • Understanding of the manufacturing schedule, rework process and being able to prioritize jobs.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to operate, maintain, program, troubleshoot and repair machines.
  • Experience with quality systems in a customer driven manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating a forklift.
  • Courage and willingness to stop and question unsafe work.
  • Patience and practicality while working under pressure.
