You will drive New Product Introduction (NPI) from start of a new program through successful Purchased Part Acceptance Process (PPAP), Safe Launch Containment and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
You will utilize NPI methodologies to capture past failure modes from lessons learned and new modes related to innovations in design and processing.
You will collaborate with key customers, New Product Development, Operations, Program Managers, Product Managers, Supply Chain and other internal/external staff to ensure regular gate reviews are conducted and documented to drive launch excellence and customer satisfaction.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in the project Kick-off Meetings, support project team development for internal requirements, verify layout data, customer specific requirements, Risk Priority Number (RPN) reductions, analyze SPC data, etc.
Support process/part development at vendors and at designated global manufacturing plants.
Work closely with the plants to report the NPI status of new programs for all relevant customer portal and sites.
Ensure variables and attribute gage studies are conducted on all programs.
Lead various project meetings and NPI driven events with the customers and the Program Management Team.
Document the results for specific program characteristics and ensure that internal and external requirements are met including deviations.
Accountable for the preparation of on-time delivery of Control Plans, Capability Studies, Part layouts, Inspection Instructions, Gage design and R&R, FMEAs, etc.
Accountable for driving closure on actions related to above
Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to develop fixtures, job aids, or new process controls prior to production launch
Accountable to ensure manufacturing documentation for Production is prepared prior to first time builds.
Create customer communication on product and process controls and timelines
Ensure customer specific parts and requirements are reviewed and planned accordingly
Team with Supply Quality Engineer in the completion of supplier PPAP. Develop quality metrics and requirements for suppliers
Contribute on other NPI Engineering projects on an as needed basis
YOU HAVE:
Bachelor's degree and ideally 3+ years as an APQP Engineer
Or Bachelor's degree and ideally 5+ years as a Manufacturing Engineer
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Experience MUST include developing Controls Plans, FMEAs, process capabilities, GD&T, engineering drawings, customer specifications, ECNs, and Quality sign-offs
Hands-on experience with and/or PPAP submission for industry.
Exhibit current knowledge of APQP Engineering for new launches and ECNs.
Demonstrate understanding of APQP complexities while managing 1-3 OEMs.
Trained in APQP, PPAP, MSA, FMEA, SPC
Effective verbal/written skills with OEMs, suppliers and internal staff.
Must have detail-oriented and exceptional organizational skills.
