SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking a Women's & Children's Service Line Senior Director to join our Women's and Children's team. This full-time role will primarily work on-site(days/on-call).

Purpose of this position: Provides overall direction and management of the operation of Women's & Children's inpatient units and ambulatory clinics that comprise the continuum of care of Hennepin Healthcare (HHS) in partnership with dyad provider services. Provides overall program leadership for Women's & Children's populations in area of accountability. Accountable for human resource management, staffing and scheduling systems, finances, strategic planning, standards of care, and regulatory compliance. Develops, maintains, and implements clinical and non-clinical protocols, policies, and procedures, in collaboration with the Medical Director dyad partners and Department chairs in Pediatrics, OB-GYN, and Family Medicine to support the delivery of high-quality care and service across the service line
Reports to Chief Ambulatory and Population Health Officer with alignment to the Chief Nursing Officer for nursing practice and excellence

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops long-range, strategic, and operational plans of the designated clinical program areas to ensure that patient care, programs, and operational objectives of HHS are being achieved. Integrates the vision, mission, and strategic plan of the designated clinical program area
  • Is responsible for the operation and integration of clinical and business resources and needs within areas of accountability and for the measurement, assessment, and continuous improvement of its services, productivity, quality, and/or financial performance
  • Collaboratively establishes success indicators for the program and clinical areas that include clinical, functional, and financial outcomes, patient and staff satisfaction, and measure performance against those indicators
  • Is responsible for management of patient care processes for clinical and program areas. Promotes efficient organization of work to be done by determining the right level, skill mix, and number of employees; ensures workforce is trained to competently perform the work required. Actively works with non-physician staff to ensure accountability for individual performance and clinical unit outcomes. Is responsible for all human resources management for areas of accountability
  • Establishes an environment that promotes teamwork within and across clinical areas and the health system, identifies team and individual developmental opportunities, and encourages individual contributions to overall team effectiveness. Provides clear expectations and standards of accountability to ensure consistency with the organizational mission and vision, as well as professional practice guidelines of staff
  • Role models professional and organizational commitment and excellence. Demonstrates a clear understanding of culture change and serves as a catalyst for change and continuous improvement
  • Clearly articulates and communicates the vision, mission, and values of HHS. Maintains open communication lines in the flow of information to assure effectiveness in carrying out operations
  • Is responsible for the preparation, review, and management of the clinical/program budget to meet or exceed budgetary expectations
  • Establishes and maintains systems to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards
  • Represents program areas on internal and external committees and project responsibilities and other assignments as deemed appropriate by the Chief Ambulatory and Population Health Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, and the Executive Leadership Team
  • Creates a caring and healing trauma informed culture that fosters positive, effective nurse-patient relationships and positive, collaborative interdisciplinary relationships
  • Develops leadership behaviors that support the staff in behaviors to take responsibility, authority, and accountability for decision making for patient care (including Hennepin Healthcare Essentials)
  • Creates an environment of hope, creativity, and innovation
  • Monitors and ensures that staff understands and complies with organizational standards, policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Provides leadership for the Women's & Children's Service Line growth and business development including strategic planning and implementation
  • Promotes communication and continuous Improvement through Lean Daily Huddle Management Systems and tiered huddles
  • Performs other assignments as deemed appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Hospital Administration, Business, or related field. Masters or Bachelor's degree must be in Nursing with specific experience leading Women's and Children's Services/Service Lines and Programs across all care settings include acute care and ambulatory care
  • 7-10 years of clinical and management experience in nursing or a related area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Nursing Administration preferred

License/Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid RN license issued by the State of Minnesota
