Job Brief

Maintain and repair all fixed, plant & mobile equipment, including engines, chassis, product storage, blending and manufacturing equipment to assure reliable, safe, and cost-effective use of company vehicles, mobile equipment and emulsion plant.

What You'll Do

As the Lead Mechanic, you will maintain and repair all fixed, plant & mobile equipment, including engines, chassis, product storage, blending and manufacturing equipment to assure reliable, safe, and cost-effective use of company vehicles, mobile equipment and emulsion plant. Other duties will include:

  • Ensure compliance with applicable HSE Performance Standards, and site security program

    • Proactively work to achieve compliance with safety systems (PTW, MOC, HAT, and Risk Assessments)

    • Demonstrate and/or lead the commitment to the pursuit of achieving Zero Harm through behavioral based safety. (Ensure SAO, JSA, Take 5's, stretching, and all safety rules are being completed.)

  • Repair and maintain all company vehicles and emulsion plant in order to assure safe and reliable use

  • Ability to perform Inspection; Wheel/Tire Assemblies; SSS testing; Brake repair; Chassis PMs; Automotive electrical troubleshooting or testing; DOT/TDG Inspections, troubleshoot operating systems controls

  • Maintain parts supply inventories and equipment in order to have necessary parts and supplies readily available and to control costs

  • Purchase parts and supplies needed for repair and maintenance in order to fulfill maintenance requirements and to be cost effective

  • Respond professionally and timely to address problems and business requests.

  • Comply with applicable regulatory health and safety policies and practices in order to ensure personal safety and the safety of all employees, company assets, environment and regulatory compliance.

  • Knowledgeable and use practices consistent with company policies and procedures from applicable technical modules, SOPs, work site, and safety policies and procedures.

  • Knowledgeable of and comply with applicable DOT, OSHA, MSHA, EPA and BATFE

  • Ability to work accurately with numbers and perform simple mathematical calculations

  • Ability to use CMMS program on computer and phone.

  • Effective use of the ATLAS process on a computer.

  • Introduce new technology

What We're Looking For:

  • Education:

    • Minimum 2-4 years or trade school certification + 3000 hours

  • 5 Years of heavy mechanics, plant maintenance or related experience

  • Must be willing to undergo and pass an ATF background check as required to be a possessor of explosives.

  • Gasoline and diesel engine, chassis and heavy vehicle repair and maintenance, including controls, electrical and hydraulic systems; welding; manufacturing systems equipment.

  • Manufacturers certifications and training in various vehicle systems (Pump Inspection; Wheel/tire; DOT Cert II)

  • Acquire and maintain all appropriate licenses and certifications required by federal, state and county entities (e.g. CDL's for commercial drivers with HAZMAT, Tanker, Air Brakes and applicable endorsements).

  • ASE Certifications - Recognized

  • Brakes, annual inspection and hydraulic systems certification required

  • Able to obtain Class A License with tanker and Hazmat endorsements within 12 months

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Ability to read, write and speak English, and to communicate in writing and verbally. Possess average computer and communication skills.
