Nexus Family Healing is a national nonprofit network of mental health agencies with over 50 years of restoring hope for thousands of children and families through outpatient/community mental health services, foster care, adoption, and residential treatment.
At Nexus-Kindred, we provide a continuum of services, from foster care to community-based services, to give children and families the tools they need to build successful relationships outside of treatment.
Position Summary:
Our Social Worker provides supervision to foster and adoptive homes assigned to caseload; provides homes with support and assures that the homes adhere to agency policies and state and federal laws. They will supervise the placement & ongoing support of youth placed in foster homes. They will provide regular, ongoing communication with families, source & recruit new foster parents, re-license existing families, conduct foster care training, and maintain appropriate documentation & files to support the services that are provided to families in Minnesota.
Primary responsibilities:
- Provides supervision to foster & adoptive homes assigned to caseload
- Provides homes with support and assures that the homes adhere to agency policies and state and federal laws
- Proactively recruits foster youth referral sources
- Assists relative & kinship caregiver's in working through barriers and challenges that arise in parenting youth in the foster care system by connecting relative & kinship families with needed services and information.
- Supervises the placement & ongoing support of youth placed in foster homes
- Assessing relative and kinship families ability to care for relative children in the foster care system.
- Ensures regular ongoing communication with families
- Recruits new foster parents
- Re-licenses existing families
- Conducts foster care training
- Maintains appropriate documentation & files to support the services that are provided to families in Minnesota
Required Education and Licensure:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work
- Current MN Social Worker State License (LSW, LGSW, LICSW)
- Minimum of one year of related experience in family-based service, foster care, or Human Services community-based case work
- Ability to interact with and appreciate people from diverse cultural, social, economic and religious backgrounds
- Valid MN Driver's license and auto insurance coverage required
- Must have vehicle capable of safely transporting clients
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master's level license and one (1) year of related experience
- LICSW
