The MIDB is dedicated to fostering the healthy brain function of children across the lifespan with the mission to set and maintain a healthy trajectory for all children toward positive life outcomes through early neurobehavioral and mental health assessment, innovative targeted interventions, informed policy-making, compassionate child-advocacy, and community education. The MIDB's mission of basic and clinical research in the field of neurobehavioral development is supported by multiple cores including: Analytics, Informatics, Neuroimaging, the Center for Neurobehavioral Development, Translational Neuroscience, Novel Intervention, and Community Integration and Education. The MIDB Research Professional will assist with research by providing data acquisition and technology support and expertise. The successful candidate will be comfortable learning new technologies and will work with the team of technicians in Center for Neurobehavioral Development to acquire data for MIDB research projects, including the Baby's First Years study, and provide support for the research center.

Job Duties

Research Support & Data Acquisition - 70%

• Assist with electrophysiologic, biometric, and psychometric testing of developmental populations across multiple projects.
• Acquire form and survey data for projects.
• Maintain study records, databases and accurate data entry.
• Schedule participants for research sessions.
• Prepare materials for research sessions.
• Provide administrative support for research center and other research initiatives as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Administrative Duties - 25%

• Maintain CNBD equipment and personnel databases.
• Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of research equipment.
• Track CNBD study productivity.
• Order research supplies as needed.
• Communicate with building management regarding general space/equipment concerns.
• Assist with supervision and direction of student workers.

Professional Development - 5%

• Opportunities to attend colloquia and symposiums to learn about contemporary advances in the field of developmental neuroscience.
• Participation in journal clubs, research forums, and interdisciplinary collaborations to foster intellectual exchange and broaden scientific perspectives.
• Access to training workshops and seminars in cutting-edge techniques and methodologies relevant to developmental neuroscience research.

Required Qualifications

• BA/BS plus 2 years of related work experience or a combination of education and experience to equal 6 years.
• Experience working with children.
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team of researchers.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule - some study visits may require early morning, evening, or weekend work.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain records, meet deadlines, and prioritize assignments.
• Ability to take initiative in learning and to solve problems as they arise.
• Excellent critical-thinking skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Social sciences or biological/health sciences awareness.
• Technical/computer science coursework.
• Experience with acquisition of electrophysiological (EEG, ERP) data.
• Experience administering behavioral and cognitive assessments (e.g., NIH Toolbox, MEFS).
• Experience with data management systems (e.g., REDCAP).
• Working knowledge of regulations associated with human-participants research.
• Experience managing and troubleshooting technology resources.
• Fluent in Spanish.
