Job Description

The Material Handler/Forklift Driver in the Forest City, North Carolina plant reports directly to the Materials Planning Analyst, and is responsible for movement of materials to prepare for operation, inventory transactions, improving inventory accuracy, shipping and receiving of product, and filling in at different positions when needed.

This is a 2nd Shift position; work hours are 2:45 pm to 11:15 pm.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe work environment and use proper safety devices as provided.
  • Abide by and actively promote all facility safety guidelines and quality procedures.
  • Responsible for all material movement and related computer transactions.
  • Keep material supplied to the extruders and braiders.
  • Assure FIFO is being practiced and warehouse inventory management.
  • Responsible for cycle counts when assigned.
  • When needed, will travel of offsite warehouse in company vehicle to unload/ load trucks and retrieve material needed for plant operations. Also, must travel outdoors on forklift to retrieve packaging or chemicals needed.
  • Maintain a channel of communication between management and departmental personnel on shift crossover.
  • Maintain 5-S Standards in work area.
  • Actively participate in plant improvement projects and teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Background & Skills

Required (Basic) Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Drivers license
  • One (1) year of lift truck experience (stand up or sit down)
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Must be local - no relocation offered


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.


Job Criteria

  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to use RF scanning equipment
  • Basic computer skills - simple data entry
