JOB SCOPE

The Technical Applications Trainer will be responsible for:


* Assessing, designing, and enhancing scientific applications and technology training associated with Luminex software, hardware, assay development, and assay kits
* Collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SME's) from various organizations within Luminex, including User Experience, Instructional Design, Technical Communications, Field/Molecular Application Specialists, Technical Application Specialists, Field Service Engineers, Software, R&D, Sales and Marketing
* Building high-impact customer relationships through effective training with Luminex's customers (both internal and external), partners, and distributors
* Delivering content for multiple product lines at a variety of levels to different audiences via a multitude of formats including, in-person, onsite, virtual, and recorded formats
* Participating in product testing to build knowledge and subsequently develop and update necessary supporting content and technical training
* Lead projects to support people and processes within the training delivery organization
* Propose new training and development programs based on data monitoring and needs assessments
* Become an expert in Luminex software, hardware, assay development, and assay kits

Key Duties and responsibilities

  • Meet regularly and work effectively, with members within and outside of the organization to build training content
  • Perform ongoing analysis of assessment strategy and knowledge gaps, identify areas of improvement, and revise certification content accordingly
  • Act as a source of knowledge for the User Enablement organization
  • Participate in the development process
  • Create relevant scenarios based on knowledge and experience to enhance training
  • Deliver, customize, and adjust training based on target audience level of expertise
  • Effectively leverage a wide range of media to deliver classroom-based training across multiple product lines
  • Work closely with other teams within Luminex to gain product and process knowledge to enhance content development and training abilities
  • Utilize Luminex's systems to develop content and certification courses
  • Stay abreast of the latest scientific uses of Luminex's products and technologies
  • Conduct hands-on, scenario-based technical demonstration and training sessions in a group setting, either in-house or at customer sites in a professional, courteous, and productive format
  • Manage the Training Department's labs, including organization, keeping stock, instrument maintenance, systematic cleaning, and standardization
  • Other duties as assigned

Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, biology, immunology, chemistry, or similar discipline required or
  • Master's Degree Master's in education or instructional design preferred or
  • Ph.D. PhD in one of the above listed disciplines preferred or
  • 1+ Years Training and development required
  • 1+ Years Experience with Luminex instrumentation preferred
  • 1+ Years Instructional design preferred
  • 1+ Years Hands-on laboratory work including;
    * Assay design
    * Clinical molecular pathology
    * Molecular biology
    * Research
  • Ability to be a self-starter and independent worker, allowing for continuing growth to successfully fulfill job requirements (High proficiency)
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, with a focus on accuracy, attention to detail, and timely record keeping (High proficiency)
  • Results-oriented and dedicated to providing high-quality customer service (High proficiency)
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills - the role will interact with many cross-functional teams, so collaboration and open communication is essential (High proficiency)
  • Knowledge of all training functions from the conceptual design of training programs to their final implementation (High proficiency)
  • Flexible, creative, open-minded, and dependable (High proficiency)

Standard Working Conditions

  • Must work onsite at Luminex office - Frequently
  • Exposure to chemicals, lasers, and excessive noise - Occasionally
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in high-stress environments - Frequently

Travel Requirements

  • 20% Domestic travel may be required
  • 20% International travel may be required
