This role will provide strategic thought leadership and be responsible fordeveloping, implementing and owning the enterprise wide sourcing strategy and execution of direct material spend categories for all business units of Apogee. In this position, you will partner with business stakeholders to understand business needs and develop/execute strategic sourcing strategies to reduce total cost of ownership by leveraging world-class negotiation skills, tools and processes. This position will develop strong cross functional working relationships while executing value driven projects and implementing best practices.

This role will report to the Director of Sourcing and will manage critical direct material spend categories, such as Aluminum Billet, Extrusions and Sheets.

The success of the incumbent will be measured on his/her ability to support the Apogees business units in driving profitable growth, building greater alignment with customer objectives, creating long-term strategies for managing spend and achieving procurement excellence in cost, quality and service.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and executing fully integrated long-term strategic plans that meet organizational objectives
  • Maintaining continuous in-depth knowledge of market conditions, industry trends, and developing technologies
  • Owning all sourcing decisions including supplier evaluations, selections and competitive bid processes
  • Executing successful supplier transitions and implementing consignment, stocking, and 3PL solutions with suppliers to improve overall supply flexibility and responsiveness
  • Deploying strategies using all relevant value levers to meet the total cost of ownership needs of our business and the dynamic supply needs of Apogee Enterprises, Inc. factories globally
  • Managing performance and strategic relationships with suppliers to influence supply capabilities, efficiency, and effectiveness
  • Driving effective supplier performance management in alignment with business stakeholders, to include supplier business reviews, scorecards and compliance requirements
  • Assessing and maintaining category performance objectives and communicating periodic results to plan
  • Negotiating supply agreements to mitigate risk, establish favorable commercial terms and drive the highest levels of total cost reduction
  • Partnering with key stakeholders to proactively identify value-driven activities that deliver productivity savings, working capital and continuous quality improvement

Education and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor degree (Master's Degree a Plus)
  • 10+ years Sourcing & Category Management experience
  • 4+ years' experience in Direct Materials categories
  • CPM and/or APICS certification a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience developing and executing category strategies, supplier negotiations and supplier management
  • Experience leading complex, global, project teams within business
  • Strong track record of driving operational improvements to support the business strategy
