The Manager, Entry-Level Recruiting will lead the recruiting efforts in our Midwest offices and provide support to the firm-wide legal recruiting team in all aspects of entry-level recruiting.

The manager is responsible for assisting all aspects of the entry-level non-partner lawyer recruiting functions. This position works closely with the Hiring committee, diversity and inclusion professionals, and other internal constituents to support broader firm projects related to the recruiting, development, and retention of legal talent. The manager will assist in the development of strategic direction and implementation for lawyer recruiting at the local office level, while executing firmwide initiatives and strategy. This position will build strategic relationships with career services personnel and key law student groups in the region. The manager is also responsible for providing support to successfully grow the firm through proactive entry-level recruiting efforts in a manner consistent with the firm's strategic goals.

The position will ideally be based in one of our Chicago, St. Louis, or Minneapolis offices. Flexibility for overtime is necessary as evening and weekend work will be required during peak recruiting seasons. Travel will be required.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Working proactively with the local office Hiring Committee, the Entry-Level Recruiting team, and other legal recruiters across the firm to anticipate and determine summer associate and entry-level hiring needs and goals
  • Recruiting the highest quality of law students by fostering strong relationships with local law school career services offices, campus outreach efforts, on-campus interviews, and callback interviews
  • Creating and implementing best practices for entry-level recruiting at select national and local law schools
  • In collaboration with office hiring partners, responsible for identifying the interview teams, actively managing candidate communications and follow-up efforts, and managing offers
  • Developing and executing the office's summer associate program; this includes budgeting, planning, and implementing the program's social calendar; development and implementation of orientation program; management of work product; management of summer associate evaluation process; development and implementation of summer associate training programs in collaboration with Talent Development team; and management of the offer process and follow-up efforts
  • Working with stakeholders to implement onboarding, integration, and development programming for entry-level lawyers
  • Supervising and mainlining data entry, recruiting records, and budgets for responsible office, school team(s) and summer program
  • Managing payments and reimbursements for participation in on-campus events, summer events, and to students
  • Participating in data collection and analysis for purposes of completing necessary forms and surveys (i.e., NALP form)
  • Supporting local partner hiring and onboarding efforts

Skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Minimum 4-7 years of recruiting experience in global law firm or legal professional services environment preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build and maintain positive relationships both within and outside the organization
  • Professionalism, personal integrity and high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership skillset that promotes an environment of collaboration, teamwork, client service, innovation, excellence, and commitment
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Exhibit initiative to accomplish results while working independently or part of a team
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and various databases
  • Detailed knowledge of Flo Recruit, viDesktop/viRecruit, and/or Lawcruit, or familiarity with other applicant tracking systems is preferred
  • Proven ability to develop, monitor, and approve budgets and expenditures
