SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Inpatient Psych team. This part time role will work 56 hours within a two week pay period, on days (shifts will either be 8:00 - 4:30 or 9:00 - 5:30). Also includes rotating weekends and holidays.

Purpose of this position: Under general supervision, performs work applying and assisting with occupational therapy modalities to patients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Observe patients to gather data on cognitive and psychosocial skills
  • Organize data into oral and written reports on patient treatment and progress
  • Participate in planning conferences, in-service education, and team meetings with staff and patients
  • Assist in selection of occupational therapy techniques to attain designated goals
  • Carry out treatment plans as formulated
  • Order supplies according to established procedures
  • Prepare and maintain work settings, equipment, and supplies. Under the direction and supervision of the occupational therapist and in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, provides occupational therapy services including treatment, discharge planning and education
  • Observes and reports the patient's responses to the occupational therapist
  • Assists with department orientation as assigned
  • Assists occupational therapist with student education activities
  • Delegates appropriate activities to rehab aides or nursing assistant consistent with their training and skills (patient transfers, patient transport, and assisting therapist directly with care) under the direction and supervision of an occupational therapist
  • Educates patients and care givers based on established care plan
  • Performs clerical task as delegated
  • Completes all documentation and charges of services per departmental standard
  • Plan and facilitate occupational therapy groups
  • Order supplies and maintain OT budget according to established procedures

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an ACOTE accredited OTA educational program.

License/Certifications:

  • Certified or eligible for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification examination for Occupational Therapist, Assistant. As a condition of employment, employees hired on an "or eligible" status must take and pass the first available examination (within three consecutive administrations of the exam) within the 12-month period following his/her date of hire.
