Postdoc position in Hydrology, Water Quality Modeling and Climate Change:

About the Job - The Hydrologic Sciences and Remote Sensing (HydSens) group, led by Ardeshir Ebtehaj, is part of the Civil, Environmental, and Geo-Engineering Department and the Saint Anthony Falls Laboratory at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. The team works on several research areas related to hydrologic and water quality modeling, climate change, remote sensing of water and environment, and weather and hydrologic water cycle predictions. Postdoc candidates in the fields of rainfall-runoff and water quality modeling of lakes and river systems under super resolution climate change scenarios.

Job Duties may include:
50% collect research material related to the HydSens group
25% provide writing and editing services for the group to compose papers and disseminate research and
25% assisting with computational data analysis.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Prerequisites:
A Ph.D. in Hydrology, Earth Science, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics or a related field is required.
Background in Hydrology, Earth Science, Computer Science, Physics, and Applied Mathematics. Strong quantitative abilities, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to work independently and collaborative are required. Experience in programming and analyzing data in MATLAB, Python, or a similar technical programming language is needed. Past experiences or interest in learning linear and non-linear optimization, machine learning, and neural networks are advantageous. Applicants must provide a minimum of two recommendation letters.

The Saint Anthony Falls Laboratory (SAFL) is an interdisciplinary fluid mechanics research lab and educational facility under the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota. This lab houses engineers and scientists who collaborate across disciplines to solve fluids-related problems in the Earth-surface environment. Our vision encompasses both science and practice, beginning with basic research and moving through application, decision-making, and management.
