THE OPPORTUNITY
The National College of Education (NCE) at National Louis University (NLU) seeks a knowledgeable, experienced, dynamic educator for a full-time Special Education Professional Practice faculty (10-month contract) at the Assistant Professor rank. NLU's recently updated graduate program offers multiple pathways to earn a master's degree and/or licensure in special education including a MEd and MAT programs. This position includes teaching prospective special educators, preparing candidates to develop a strong foundation in culturally-sustaining classroom instruction and assessment to meet the needs of each of their students. As part of our program, the successful candidate will engage in teaching, lead and develop research, and contribute through service activities focused on incorporating critical issues of race, dis/ability, and social justice within special education methods. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to research and teaching within the field of special education. The candidate must be comfortable working with students from different backgrounds, have a deep understanding of special education laws and regulations, have knowledge of current trends in special education, and be committed to anti-oppressive pedagogy.
