Provide emotional support, information about the full array of choices, and referral resources to families with children who are deaf, deafblind or hard of hearing. Connect parents to other parents and to local community resources. Participate in family support activities. Represent MN Hands & Voices in the community.

Job Requirements:
  • Prefer one-year related work experience or post-secondary training.
  • Must be the parent of a child who is deaf, deafblind, or hard of hearing.
  • Must have transportation to in-person visits with clients, including their home, community events and meetings.
  • Must have excellent customer relations and organizational skills.
  • Able to communicate clearly and relate to economically and culturally diverse customers.
  • Ability to empathize with customer while adhering to procedures, law, rules and regulations.
  • Ability to think and make decisions under pressure.
  • Able to work with multiple tasks at one time.
  • Able to use basic office equipment, personal computer and software with skills in word processing and computerized record keeping.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to follow instructions.
  • Work under minimal supervision.
  • Must have familiarity with deaf, deafblind and/or hard of hearing issues.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends to meet with parents and conduct activities when convenient for parents.
  • Sign language and/or cued speech skills desirable.
