Detailed Description:

The successful candidate will support projects locally, regionally, and nationally and will have strong verbal and written communication skills, be highly organized and responsive, capable of working in a diverse team environment, and able to handle multiple tasks with competing priorities. Responsibilities may include:

  • Assist the National Building Mechanical Leader with resource and staff planning on a regional basis
  • Interact directly with Portfolio Design Managers, Portfolio Discipline Leaders and Local Leaders to determine project staffing and availability
  • Perform engineering design work with the building mechanical group
  • Work on engineering designs preparing reports, construction plans, specifications, calculations, equipment selection, and cost estimates for various projects
  • Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications through field inspection and testing
  • Assist with the preparation of technical memoranda, reports and electronic deliverables
  • Assist with studies, permitting and alternative analysis
  • Prepare and review technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documents and deliverables
  • Coordinate and communicate with others on projects to ensure proper and timely execution of the work
  • Participate in BC's QA/QC process
  • Knowledge of piping and ductwork layout and design of 3D piping systems.
  • Duties may also include field activities such as site investigations
  • Data collection, manipulation, analysis, and documentation
  • Manage and review work of external partners
  • Direct and mentor junior engineering staff
  • S. degree in Mechanical Engineering field required
  • State of Minnesota P.E. license required, or alternate locations as listed
  • Willingness to achieve multi-state licensure required
  • NCEES registration required, or willingness to obtain within 6 months
  • Ability to work to independently while guiding junior engineers
  • 10+ years of experience in municipal discipline engineering designs and consulting
  • Experience in Design Build project delivery required.
  • Ability to work with Designers in Revit/BIM environment
  • Experience in HVAC and plumbing piping design required
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record may be required
  • Experience using engineering calculation software (MathCAD, Excel, AFT Arrow/Fathom) preferred
  • Experience using general office software for communications (MS Word and MS Outlook)
  • Experience using CAD software (Revit,and AutoCad) preferred
  • Experience with Microstation and Bentley products is a plus
  • Good written and verbal communication skills essential
  • Experience with water and wastewater treatment facilities desired
  • Knowledge of NFPA 820 and other NFPA codes for extreme environments is a plus

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A:

Salary: $94,000 - $128,000

Location B:

Salary: $103,000 - $141,000
