Job Description

Purpose

To assist Operator in setting up, adjusting, operating, cleaning, and general loading/unloading of machine to produce quality printed film for customer packaging needs.

Duties

Takes direction from Operator and assists in any way possible to help meet the maximum output of production with desired quality while maintaining a clean and safe working area. Drops splices and corrects the guide. Keeps area clean, cleans up excess powder, and keeps dirty rags in proper containers. Cleans unit not in use. Checks stock for next order and has stock brought to press if needed. Ensures that all setup material is ready for next order. Maintains self and work area to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices and other prerequisite food safety programs. Assists in the training of new or inexperienced Assistant Operators. Performs Operator duties periodically for training for automatic progression to the Operator classification or when the Operator is away from the machine temporarily. All other duties as assigned by Crew Leader or Management.

Requirements

  • Good computer skills
  • Ability to work with and interact effectively and professionally with coworkers in a team environment
  • Good math skills
  • Must be able to identify the source of problems on complex machinery, and, if noted, take the appropriate corrective action
  • Must be able to read, understand and stay current with all department work instructions and procedures
  • Good organizational skills

Sources

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and a minimum of 3 years of experience in printing and/or a manufacturing environment.

Contacts

1.

Internal

  • Has daily contact with Crew Leaders, hourly production personnel, maintenance, production department management personnel. Must be able to interact with various plant personnel to ensure that supplies are available and orders are ready to run as scheduled.

2.

External

  • Occasional contact with customers during customer visits.

V.

Responsibility

  • While there is no direct responsibility for major assets or operations in this position, a considerable impact can be made on production, efficiency and waste through effective handling of materials, products, equipment and inventory control.

  • Occasional sitting
  • Occasional standing
  • Frequent walking
  • Occasional below waste level work
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, pushing/pulling
  • Occasionally lifts up to 75 lbs.
  • Occasional reaching above shoulder, reaching over 15" away from body, fine motor and forceful motion
  • Must have good vision and hearing and use of both hands
  • Must be able to communicate with coworkers and Crew Leaders
  • Must pass company administered color vision test

Other

  • Must be able to maintain regular attendance
