Founded in 1984, and currently celebrating over 25 years of service, PreferredOne is Big On Essential Services, the services that make a positive difference in administering health care benefits through tailored planning, flexible options, superior customer service and applied technology.

Over 300 employees in one location in Golden Valley, Minnesota, administer insurance coverage and third-party administrator (TPA) services to individuals and more than 1,400 employer groups with 198,000 members through networks providing access to 17,900 physicians (8,400 primary care and 9,500 specialists), 266 hospitals and numerous pharmacy benefit management providers, reinsurers and national/regional PPO networks. An additional 127,000 members access the PreferredOne PPO network through various insurance companies and TPAs.

As a health benefits administrator, PreferredOne offers a full-range of products, services and networks to brokers, employers, members, insurance companies and TPAs throughout Minnesota and the Upper Midwest. Our mission is to create customized, trusted health plan solutions to serve a growing membership.

PreferredOne entered the Twin Cities health care market as a preferred provider organization (PPO).

1995
Introduced PreferredOne Community Health Plan (PCHP), a health maintenance organization (HMO).

1997
Launched PreferredOne Administrative Services (PAS), third-party administrator (TPA) for self-insured employers.

2004
Launched PreferredOne Insurance Company (PIC) employer stop loss insurance.

2006
Launched PreferredOne Insurance Company (PIC) individual health insurance products.

2007
Launched PreferredOne Insurance Company (PIC) group health insurance products.

2009
