Join the growing Palliative Medicine Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN . Mayo Clinic is an internationally respected health care institution that engages in clinical practice, research and education at its best.

The Center for Palliative Medicine fields robust interprofessional palliative care teams across several distinct service lines. Our clinical practice includes:
  • Three fully staffed consultative palliative care teams.
  • An inpatient palliative care service.
  • An extensive outpatient palliative care practice with embedded outpatient clinics in oncology and neurology.
  • A regional Hospice practice with a hospital-based GIP service.
  • Expanding virtual palliative care practice
Our palliative care practice includes over 14 full-time physician faculty, eight part-time physician faculty, and a diverse interprofessional team including 20 NP/PAs, 14 RNs, social workers, chaplains, pharmacists, and a full-time integrated music therapy team.

The Center for Palliative Medicine faculty are involved in over a dozen active research protocols, and our practice serves as a site for several national palliative care trials. This vigorous and well-supported academic practice provides faculty ample opportunity to engage in academic and educational pursuits. Additionally, there is dedicated support for clinician sustainability and unmatched financial support for CME.

The ideal candidate has a passion for clinical and academic palliative care, along with a track record of scholarship in education and/or research, as well as a publication bibliography sufficient to enter at an associate professor rank. We will consider promising candidates with a trajectory of growth at the assistant professor rank as well.

License or certification

Candidates must be an M.D. or D.O. with a Minnesota license or eligibility for a Minnesota license and must be board-certified or board-eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Successful candidates will also have an interest in a career in academic palliative medicine.
