Requirements:
- Must be in good standing with the Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS) and provide written evidence of ecclesiastical endorsement for each Catholic Priest performing services. This certification is completed using Department of Defense Form 2088, Statement of Ecclesiastical Endorsement
- A photograph in clerical attire, letter of permission from the diocesan bishop or religious superior
- Signed and stamped original of the statement from the priests diocesan bishop or religious superior attesting to the provisions article 13 of the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.
- Proof of the priests Youth Protection training (Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, article 12).
- Have received Safe Environment training within the last three years.
- Submission of a DVD of the priest celebrating a Sunday Mass (including a homily of at least five minutes).
- A one-page statement sharing the priests reason for his interest in working as a civilian priest at a military installation.
- Applicants must possess 120 semester hours of undergraduate credit from an accredited college or university; and possess a Master of Divinity or an equivalent theological degree of no less than 72 hours, or have completed 3 full time resident years of graduate level study in theology or related subjects leading to ordination and ecclesiastical endorsement that qualifies the applicant to perform professional functions as a chaplain.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English fluently. English shall be the only language used with regard to this contract for written correspondence, discussions and other business transactions.
Duties:
The Auxiliary Catholic Priest will support the 934 AW Chapel by conducting Catholic religious services, administering the sacrament of Reconciliation, and overseeing the preparation of ecclesiastical documents to record such services. Services will include Sunday Mass and Reconciliation.
