Job Summary:

Provides spiritual care as part of the care team to patients and families. Supports the emotional and spiritual health of employees in situations such as emergent, stress and burn out. Develops and implements spiritual assessments which may include crisis and intervention, bereavement, chemical dependency and addictive patterns.

Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities
  • Provides spiritual care as part of the care team to patients and families considering population specific needs such as age and culture.
    • Develops and implements spiritual assessments which may include crisis and intervention, bereavement, chemical dependency and addictive patterns.
    • May complete patient/family assessment and participate in the development of the plan of care when patient is in hospice.
    • Facilitates values and goals clarification related to bio-ethics/health care decision making.
    • Provides or coordinates sacramental ministry as requested.
    • Provides counseling to patients and families.
  • Provides consultation and support.
    • Supports the emotional and spiritual health of employees, patients and families.
    • Counsels those requesting support in situations such as stress, burn out, bereavement, chemical dependency and addictive patterns.
    • Uses crisis assessment and intervention skills in emergency situations.
  • Leads and participates on committees and quality initiatives for patients and employees.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
  • Master's degree in Divinity or equivalent required
  • 4 units of ACPE-accredited Clinical Pastoral Education required
  • 2 to 5 years experience in hospital, hospice, parish or public safety required
  • Driver's License in hospice setting required and
  • Ordination or licensure with judicatory eligible required and
  • Board of Chaplaincy Certification Inc. (BCCI) ;certification eligible with the Association of Professional Chaplains required
