Overview
All PAs and RNs report to a Nurse Manager
Unit has 14 beds in all private rooms with two pods to isolate patients when necessary
Team consists of - 2 attending psychiatrists, 2 CTC's (social workers), 1 Occupational therapist, 17 RNs and 25 psychiatric associates. Chaplains, diversity specialists and medical providers are shared with other units
Station 12 is our most acute unit in the hospital and generally is managing aggressive, assaultive patients or those who are highly disorganized and/or psychotic. Certainly one of our most challenging units to work on, but if you have the temperament, this is easily the most rewarding unit in terms of gaining new knowledge and relevant experience . Staffing ratios on this unit are better due to the acuity and there is always plenty of support in managing this population.
Responsibilities/Job Description
Assess, Plan, Implement and evaluate nursing care to ensure quality patient care in accordance with the missions and philosophy of Fairview Behavioral Services. Behavioral experience preferred. Physical demands: Sitting, standing, walking, lifting-max 35lbs, push/pull-max. 35 lbs., balance, stooping/crouching, grasping, writing, finger dexterity/keyboarding, reaching, color vision, operate machinery, physical presence at workMental Demands: Frequent people contact, irregular work schedule, supervisory skills, detailed work, frequent interruptions, decision making skills, concentration, ability to work independent, multiple concurrent tasks, frequent deadlines, organizational skills, ability to collaborate with others, express ideas orally, remember and apply information, understand/follow basic instruction.
Qualifications
Current RN Licensure and BLS required; 1 year Behavioral experience preferred within last 5 years.Preferred: BSN, at least 1 year of nursing experience in behavorial health in the last 3 years.
