& Major Responsibilities
|Provides operational support for the Medical Oncology or Radiation Oncology Outpatient Clinics by performing reception, check-in, scheduling, registration duties, medical record keeping, and other office functions. |
Provide exceptional customer service.
Role models effective communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with patients, families, physicians, and the care team.
Schedules appointments to provide efficient and convenient care for patients.
Performs check-in of all patients upon their arrival to the department and helps to coordinate patient flow to the treatment room.
Responsible for registration of walk-in patients who have not been pre-registered.
Visit dates are continually entered to ensure accuracy of account information.
Necessary signatures are obtained for insurance, release of information, and registration forms to assure the accuracy of the billing/registration process.
Perform medical record keeping responsibilities to assure accurate documentation for patient care and provider availability.
Provides coordination of front desk activities originating at the Medical Oncology/Radiation Therapy and ensures that all functions are performed in a professional, calm and organized manner.
Demonstrates knowledge of safety-related work behaviors to ensure safe job performance and the maintenance of a safe work environment as an integral part of the quality of patient care services.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Customer service, keyboarding, and one-year of related office experience, preferably in a hospital or clinic.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent customer service to patients, family members, co-workers, and/or other internal and external customers.
Ability to proficiently use computer, including mouse skills, keyboard functions, and internet access.
Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team environment.
Ability to proficiently perform multiple tasks.
Must be able to perform under occasionally hectic or stressful conditions.
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all age groups (adults).
Ability to demonstrate good organization and prioritization skills.
Working knowledge of office equipment, including fax, printers, photocopier, and voicemail.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Perform skills outlined on the competency checklist successfully.
Ability to transport patients by wheelchair and lift a minimum of 10 lbs.
