Purpose of Position:

This full time, live-in professional staff member oversees the residential population by providing support and professional guidance promoting the academic enrichment, community engagement, and identity development of students in order to assist them in an exploration of their gifts, encourage a generosity of their abilities, and promote an understanding of their role in a global community.

Position Overview:

The Residence Hall Director reports directly to the Director of Residence Life and supports the Director with departmental planning, professional and paraprofessional staff selection and training, student leadership and development. The position also provides essential leadership in crisis management, student welfare concerns, and administrative responsibilities relative to the operation of a comprehensive residential program. Department professionalism reflects active citizenship, is academic in spirit, and embodies the ideals of inclusion through intentional diversity.

The Residence Hall Director in the role of the Student Affairs collaterals also reports to a supervisor in the areas of judicial affairs, student leadership, health promotions, or orientation to implement co-curricular and campus wide engagement. The position provides meaningful work in the areas of first year retention, leadership development, civic responsibility, self-governance and wellness in Augsburgs collegiate environment.
