Emerson Network Power Connectivity Solutions is substantially expanding their Waseca Operations and has created an opportunity for a Product Support Engineer. Reporting to the Design Engineering Manager, this position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a world class LEAN environment. You will be exposed to many processes that will allow you to utilize and implement the skills you have learned. Therefore the Product Support Engineer will be responsible for product, technical, customer and application support. Major duties include responding professionally, quickly and accurately to both internal and external customer inquiries, solving customer connector and cable assembly needs, completing quotations, and completing requests for published information and selection of products for specific applications. The position also includes the support of product management in the review of product literature, support tools, and development of new products.

TECHNICAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible to and resolve all customer inquiries for product form, fit and function. All calls are tracked via database that is updated and created by each product support engineer.

  • Assist in the creating and updating of literature, product support tools, and product training.

  • Generate quotations in response to Request for Quotations (RFQ’s) from existing distributor and OEM accounts.

  • Facilitate all internal and external correspondence necessary to fully accomplish the task.

  • Continuously improve technical and application knowledge by participation in product, application, and professional skill learning. (Trade shows, customer visits, and external and internal training.)

  • Utilize and update application support database, library and training resources as applicable. Use of computer, internet, fax, telephone and written correspondence required.

  • Establish and maintain positive, productive working relationship within assigned teams and with all applicable Company departments, customers and vendors.

  • Observe established safe working and housekeeping procedures. Promptly correct and/or notify supervisor of hazardous situations.


  • ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assume other projects and responsibilities from time to time as directed.

  • Regular and predictable attendance is presumed to be an essential function of all employment.

  • Position has daily contact with Design Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Marketing, Purchasing, Production and Quality Assurance personnel. May have contact with suppliers and customers as applicable to clarify drawings and specifications.

  • Daily independent and team decisions are made related to priority and technical job performance. Has indirect effect on product design to enhance manufacturability. Must maintain effective internal communications with co-workers and operating departments.


  • REQUIREMENTS
    QUALIFIED CANDIDATES HAVE:

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Four-year degree in engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three years’ experience in a similar manufacturing environment.


  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & ATTRIBUTES (KSAAS)

    Knowledge

  • Ability to satisfactorily complete & implement all OJT and required trainings.


  • Analytical, Business & Technical

  • Ability to apply job knowledge & skills to improve productivity, quality & timeliness, & to solve problems, using good judgment.

  • Basic CAD skills.

  • Ability to interpret blue prints.

  • Ability to implement new technologies or methods as needed.

  • Ability to understand & implement ISO & Lean Manufacturing methodologies.

  • Ability to operate equipment & use tools & techniques effectively, efficiently & in accordance with ergonomic principles.

  • Ability to anticipate, negotiate & manage conflicts, problems, changing situations & deadlines.

  • Proficiency in software as required; ability to perform math calculations, measurement, analysis or reporting as directed. Strong MS office required.

  • Ability to comply with Company policies & procedures.
