Emerson Network Power Connectivity Solutions is substantially expanding their Waseca Operations and has created an opportunity for a Cost Accountant. Reporting to the Controller, this position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a world class LEAN environment. You will be exposed to many processes that will allow you to utilize and implement the skills you have learned. Emerson is well respected for their operational excellence, quality and safety standards.

The daily production demands are highly variable, and Emerson will cross-train to meet customer requirements. Therefore the Sr. Accountant will be responsible for:
Performing advanced accounting functions and assist in the coordination of the financial analysis functions, including financial and operational analysis, and others as required. Identifies complex accounting problems, researches solutions, and corrects problem. Assist in examining financial statements and documents for conformance with accounting requirements and principles.
TECHNICAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Develop procedures and methods to effectively maintain accounting standards, measurements and controls
Maintain accuracy of company inventory valuation
Prepare/analyze cost reports, cost audits, perform other activities related to inventory valuation
Monitor/analyze associated variances (i.e., scrap, PPV, deferred, etc)
Other special analyses/projects
Assure timely completion and reporting of monthly results to meet internal/external reporting requirements
Advise management of trends and potential non-compliances to internal controls
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assume other projects and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
Regular and predictable attendance is presumed to be an essential function of all employment.

REQUIREMENTS
Qualified candidates have:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or four years of an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
Minimum of 5 years standard cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Attributes (KSAAs)
Knowledge
Knowledge of revenue and month end reporting is required.
Ability to satisfactorily complete and implement all OJT and required trainings.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Analytical, Business & Technical
Ability to apply job knowledge and skills to improve productivity, quality, timeliness and to solve problems using good judgment.
Ability to interface effectively with Executive Management.
Ability to critically analyze financial and operating data and reach sound conclusions.
Thorough working knowledge of accepted accounting practices and relevant financial laws and regulations.
Ability to implement new technologies or methods as needed.
Ability to understand ISO and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
Ability to operate equipment efficiently and in accordance with ergonomic principles.
Ability to anticipate, negotiate & manage conflicts, problems, changing situations and deadlines.
Proficiency in software as required; ability to perform math calculations or reporting as directed.
Ability to comply with Company policies and procedures.
