Job Description
Purpose of the Job Plans and manages external and internal communication
programs for thecompany and its business units in order to advertise, promote,
and increase product sales and to present a positive, cohesive image to the
industry, the customers and employees.
Principal Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead communications team to provide sales force and customers
high-quality cost-effective sales tools, applied samples, labels and literature
on a timely basis.
Set department priorities.
- Consult with key corporate personnel/managers to determine communications
needs. Develop and implement programs to meet those needs cost-effectively.
- Direct activities of the applied sample lab, label design, mailroom and
literature fulfillment warehouse to ensure efficiency of those functions within
the company.
- Manage corporate internet presence, media plans, and tradeshow program.
- Develop, promote, maintain, and protect cohesive corporate identity standards
through presentations, literature, employee communications and special events.
- Develop and manage divisional budgets.
- Wear necessary safety equipment and follow company established Safety, Health
and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain good attendance record and report to assigned job station in a timely
manner.
- Follow all appropriate Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies.
- Wears prescribed Personal Protective Equipment and ensures that prescribed
safeguards are properly used.
- Notifies his/her supervisor before undertaking a work activity in which he/she
is not adequately trained.
- Immediately reports unsafe acts or conditions to his/her supervisor and takes
immediate interim steps to protect himself/herself and others from serious risk.
- Understands that Safety and Environmental responsibility is a major part of
BASF's Vision and Guiding Principles. Must report all unsafe conditions and
accidents immediately to appropriate manager. Responsible for the safety of
themselves and others.
- Must understand and follow all quality initiatives and processes for ISO
9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004 and other ISO regulations, procedures and processes as
they pertain to job responsibilities.
Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in communications or a related field is required.
• A minimum of 7 - 10 years of experience in corporate marketing or
communications and two years supervisory experience required.
• Background and experience in a construction related business strongly
preferred.
• A knowledge of marketing/communications principles, print production and other
sources for communication project completion is required as well as good design
sense, writing skills.
• Problem-solving ability is necessary.
• Ability to communicate effectively in speech, debate, written and graphic
media.
• Ability to work with budgets, numbers.
• High degree of contact with people so must be skilled in interpersonal
communication.
• Must be well vesrsed in utilitzing emarketing platforms including social
networking media/tools..
• All aspects of efficient and effective operation of core communications group,
applied sample lab, mailroom and literature fulfillment warehouse to assist
marketing/other internal customers plus sales force and external customers
achieve their objectives.
