The Senior Design Mechanical Engineer will work as part of a team to develop and support product development for solid state lighting. Typical responsibilities include design, development, testing, and documentation of solid state lighting products. It also includes the thorough design analysis and optimization of mechanical components with consideration of design for manufacturability and cost. The ideal candidate will be hands-on and will have at least 5 years of technical experience directly designing mechanical or opto-mechanical components.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to translate R&D concepts into feasible 3-D CAD drawings with exact metrics
  • To be able to design in 3D solid and validate the design after prototype and test. The responsibility also includes designing test fixtures to validate design and life cycle spec
  • Demonstrated success in project management with track record in executing cost competitive, technically superior, and innovative designs from development through product launch


Qualifications
Basic/Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years experience (expert) in mechanical design with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Solid Designer

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands-on engineering and problem solving skills with experience in opto-mechanical devices or lighting
  • Previous experience in project management and team leading

  • Experience with regulatory agencies (e.g. FCC, Underwriters Laboratories) requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients and in-house staff
