Position Description

Curriculum Development Specialist and Trainer

40 hours/week; Contract Position through 8/31/11


Stratis Health, a non-profit organization that leads collaboration and innovation in health care quality and safety, and serves as a trusted expert in facilitating improvement for people and communities is seeking a Curriculum Development Specialist and Trainer (contracted assignment through 8/31/11) to lead design, development, and implementation of the CUSP training programs and products, working with cross functional team to develop and deliver high quality training content and train-the-trainer program, using a mix of print, web, distance, and in-person learning modalities, and drawing on adult learning principles and best practices. The Comprehensive Unit-Based Safety Program (CUSP) was developed by the Johns Hopkins Quality and Safety Research Group to provide important tools for improving organizational reliability, local culture, and team work to improve patient safety. The program includes a strategy to evaluate the culture of safety within an organization or unit, and a structured model for leading change. The Stratis Health work is to lead a pilot project to adapt and spread the CUSP model to additional states and hospitals to reduce surgical site infection.

Requires a bachelor’s degree in area of specialty and at least 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area, masters preferred. Demonstrated experience in education program development, design, and implementing and evaluating educational programs; including knowledge of adult learning principles. Must be familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Equally important is a demonstrated ability to manage customer relationships and expectations, general management and leadership skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Require a proficiency using a PC and a variety of software applications. Candidate must be able to demonstrate successful experience working in a team-based environment and a commitment to quality improvement. Position requires some travel, including occasional overnight stays.
