Job Description


HealthFitness has an excellent opportunity for a creative, high energy, results driven Business Development Specialist to join the sales department in our corporate office in Bloomington, MN.


Position Overview:


The Business Development Specialist position is focused on lead generation and revenue growth through proactive prospecting, incoming lead management and teaming with sales and marketing on identified business growth initiatives.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:




  • Aggressive outbound prospecting (telephonic and email) for health and fitness management lead generation for all products across all markets to drive interest, secure commitments / schedule discovery meetings for Sales.


  • Assure HealthFitness placement on all procurement and bidders lists for fitness management, health management and component products for all organizations contacted.


  • Help develop, manage and track all contacts, sales calls and leads in the CRM system including proactive prospecting, intelligence gathering on qualified & validated leads.


  • Qualify incoming leads and referrals, validate, assist with competitive intelligence, capture in CRM system and refer to the appropriate Regional Sales VP.


  • Master the HFC sales CRM application (Salesforce) as the designated focal point for the sales department to leverage this asset for strategies and tactics and data importation and management of multiple client lists across multiple markets.


  • Complete discovery research to learn more about the prospect’s business, strategy, programs and unique needs when assigned.


  • Participate as needed in the research and completion of incoming RFPs in the support of the proposal department and Regional Business Development VPs.


  • In conjunction with sales and marketing, proactively team to assist on pull through of business growth projects, e.g. direct mail campaigns, industry sub segment projects, trade shows, press releases, special offers etc.


  • Support the introduction of new HealthFitness products and markets across identified sales/direct marketing initiatives.


  • Assist with educating the sales forces at aggregators sold as part of the Partner Program implementation and launch - assist with the training of customer-based sales personnel as part of re-seller programs.


  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:




  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Self-starter, self-driven with an entrepreneurial style


  • Inside sales experience (preferred)


  • Experience within the health care and/or health management industry (preferred)


  • Ability to effectively message to prospects to generate interest, meetings and leads.


  • Experience with Salesforce CRM application preferred


  • Ability to understand health and wellness concepts, value proposition and product solution deliverables, features and benefits.


  • Experience / knowledge ability to use Microsoft Office applications and an ability to learn CRM applications.
