Responsibilities:
Analyze and document patient specimens in hematology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology and chemistry and communicate results to providers in accordance with lab procedures. Perform proficiency testing samples, perform quality control, monitor and distribute results according to established guidelines and westgard rules to ensure accuracy of tests performed in the clinic. Perform phlebotomy and capillary punctures to obtain sample for testing. Orient and train new personnel. Monitor and request lab supplies. Perform maintenance, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, contact repair service and instructs other employees in proper instrument use. Answer department calls and respond appropriately.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
High School diploma or GED equivalent. Completion of Accredited MLT program. ASCP or NCA certification preferred. Strong analytical skills to assess accuracy of testing in regard to patient test results, quality control and troubleshooting. Good level of interpersonal skills to function effectively in a team setting and handle unusual or stressful situations.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
Part time position (15 hours per week)
Evening shifts: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 5:00pm - 10:00pm
Non-exempt
