| Primary Function: & Major Responsibilities |
Provide initial physician coverage for all levels of medical emergencies including cardiac and neonatal arrests, difficult deliveries or anticipated neonatal emergencies. Provide history and physical evaluations for patients admitted to selected services within the hospital. Assist the resident in-house on call physician and hospitalist physicians with assessment of patients and provide back up to the medical units for medical care and provide on-going education to student and resident staff. Participate on the rapid-response teams as requested by St Joseph’s Hospital medial director. Provides urgent medical care to patients, visitors, and staff. Participates as a member of the rapid-response team for patients needing acute assessment and intervention to prevent cardiopulmonary arrest, prevent or minimize stroke or other neurovascular compromise, and provide early assessment and stabilization of patients. Credentialed house physicians will assist in residency related calls as a back up physician in order to provide timely and quality care to inpatients to include, but not limited to: assist in-patient services on chemical dependency and psychiatry by providing timely medical evaluations of inpatient admissions and follow-up of patients as requested by hospitalist physicians. | ||
| Qualifications: | Education: Active MD license within the State of Minnesota. Completion of internship or at least the first year of residency in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Surgery, or Obstetrics. Experience: Clinical inpatient rotations in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or General Surgery Services. Must have completed an Emergency Medicine rotation. | ||
