Job Description
This position will take work direction from a Project Manager(s) and will be working on multiple projects at one time. They must be comfortable working in a matrixed environment, understanding the balance of priorities other groups face. Fingerhut Business Analysts serve as critical liaisons between the business and the IT team members, refining business requirements and turning those into clear functional specifications for the development teams. Multi-tasking, process focused thinking, sense of urgency, focus to detail and strong communication skills are keys to success.
The Business Analyst will have diverse responsibilities which will include, but are not limited to:
Planning
Work on projects, as directed by Project Managers, to get completed project requirements from the business and turn those into IT deliverables
Turn business requirements into functional specifications, then drive technical staff to design signoff; doing follow-up where needed
Process analysis work; gathering current and future states and flowing out pictorially
Execution
Interact with IT Developers, Release Manager, and Support to meet deliverables as laid out in project plans
Ability to design & implement solutions that include integrations to other enterprise solutions
Write and execute test cases
Manage issues in the Issue Manager tool from testing through deployment; coordinate with other assigned resources and assure resolution is delivering to plan
Heavily involved in project releases working as the subject matter expert on applications/enhancements delivered on assigned projects
Assist with supporting projects/enhancements after release. Work on the transition of documentation and knowledge to support organization.
Management
Will have a Project Manager functioning as the key leader on large projects and assignment of tasks. Business Analyst will be expected to deliver their assignments on time, on budget and assist in the delivery of tasks by other team members.
May function as lead on smaller projects/enhancements; ability to create project plans, manage tasks, and drive to delivery is required.
Guide and coordinate numerous cross functional business teams, such as Merchandising, Credit, Marketing and vendors as project requires
Required Skills
Requires a BA/BS in Business or Computer Science, or related field
2-5 years of relevant experience as an IT Business Analyst
Prefer experience in Direct Marketing; exposure to the Merchandising, Finance, Internet Retailing, or the Credit functions
A team player with strong initiative, work ethic, ability to work
Ability to apply creativity to planning and problem solving
Strong analytical skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Required Experience
Proven communication skills (written and verbal)
Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships
Microsoft technologies skills (ex: Office tools, advanced Excel, MS Project, Visio, Sharepoint, Sql Reporting Services, Biztalk, etc.)
Technical skills in the areas of report writing, sql scripting, relational databases, integration tools, etc a plus, but not required
