We have an opportunity for a Senior Cognos EP Analyst to join our Financial Analysis & Reporting (FP&A) and Business Development team, which is part of the Corporate Division with responsibility for coordinating and undertaking FP&A across Thomson Reuters and leading new initiatives to advance our planning and forecasting capabilities. This role will be centered around development and administration of the Cognos EP suite of applications, a key initiative to standardize the planning platform within Thomson Reuters. Understanding and the ability to deploy COGNOS is key in this role.
Cognos Planning Developer
Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Development
  • Work closely with end users to understand their needs and design solutions based on knowledge of available systems to satisfy their business and functional requirements.
  • Work directly with customers to translate business requirements into best practice solutions
  • Document business processes including the data flow in and out of Cognos Planning
  • Create design specifications that include reconciliation across multiple systems
  • Accommodate the customer's business needs, resolve conflicting demands and maintain positive customer relations with strong communication and coordination
  • Developed new and enhance existing Cognos Planning (Contributor and Analyst) applications and reports.
  • Maintain technical documentation of Cognos applications and data flow of information across systems.
  • Develop processes and procedures to administer Cognos Planning applications
  • Technical management of projects including creating project plans and progress of multiple resources.
Support and Maintenance
  • Assisting Business Process Owners with the coordination of the annual budget and monthly forecasting process in Cognos. Adjust models, assumptions and logic as requirements change.
  • Work collaboratively across the Cognos team to enhance internal processes and transition applications to the support team.
  • Maintain and update support processes and systems as needed.
  • Maintenance includes creating new and/or troubleshooting existing SQL scripts as business requirements change, monitoring integrity throughout all systems.
  • Maintain technical documentation of Cognos applications and data flow of information across systems.


Qualifications
  • 5 years of Senior Financial Analysis experience or 5 years in financial systems role.
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or Computer Science ideal.
  • Significant Cognos planning experience required.
  • Advanced experience with Excel, Access and Power Point.
  • Experience with SAP, Cognos BI tools and Business Objects preferred.
  • Results Oriented and resourceful individual with strong leadership, interpersonal and written and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to relate to all levels of management.
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical, quantitative and investigative skills.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal departments, technical as well as business operations.
  • Solid knowledge of financial principles, financial planning processes and financial modeling.
  • Ability to handle a diverse workload and competing priorities.
  • Comfortable in a team environment with changing priorities and time pressures.
