As a cooperative-owned generation and transmission company, we are Minnesota's second largest utility, based on generating capacity. We currently have an opening for a Substation Apparatus Technician/Electrician at our Wadena, MN location. The position responsibilities include installation, testing, checkout and maintenance of substation apparatus equipment and associated equipment on the GRE system. To qualify, you must have a two-year electrical/computer/electronics trade school degree and working knowledge of computer applications. We prefer Journey-level candidates with at least three years of substation apparatus experience in the electric utility field. However, our GRE Apprenticeship Program is available for the right candidate. Successful applicants must possess a working knowledge of the functions of power and distribution substations and associated equipment, have a mechanical aptitude, and be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job. A valid driver’s license is required for frequent travel to different field sites. The starting hourly rate is in accordance with IBEW Local 160 contract. We also offer an excellent benefits package.
