Special Instructions:
Perform and review regulatory accounting processes to ensure accurate and timely accounting close cycles and the development of internal and external financial statements and reports. Processes may include, but are not limited to: margin analysis; accounting for fuel recovery mechanisms, regulatory assets, deferred debits, joint ventures, and interchange agreements; and preparation and review of regulatory reports (for example, FERC Form 1 and 3 and other state commissions). Provide and maintain in-depth knowledge of emerging regulatory accounting issues. Provide consultative resource to other departments, business units, and subsidiaries for upcoming regulatory accounting issues and the associated impact of proposed transactions and developments. Function as team lead at location. Additional hours may be required during peak work periods.

In addition to the minimum requirements noted below,

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required for this position. CPA is preferred. A minimum of 7 years financial accounting, budgeting or reporting experience required. Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals, Sarbanes Oxley and mandated reporting requirements *FERC, PUC, State, etc) for public utilities.

Position Summary:
Analyzes and makes recommendations regarding a wide range of financial and operational processes and decisions for the business unit. Leads business unit personnel in understanding and complying with processes and policies which facilitate the achievement of business unit and corporate financial goals. Completes key financial and operational reporting and analysis for business unit management. Supports the business unit in all SEC reporting and in all regulatory reporting and proceedings.
Essential Responsibilities: Percent of Time
a) Provides business unit management with key financial and operational reporting and analysis. Ensures that this reporting meets the decision making needs of the organization and develops and monitors the processes with which information is compiled from process owners. 30%
b) Coordinates regulatory reporting needs for specific area. Writes testimony, responds to inquiries, and assists with information gathering where appropriate. Assists in developing processes and reporting to expedite regulatory requests. 20%
c) Supports business unit requirements related to SEC and other external reporting. Researches implications of new accounting pronouncements on processes and reporting within the business unit and provides implementation recommendations. 20%
d) Performs special projects and studies as assigned by business unit senior management. 30%
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related discipline, or; a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge. Minimum 7 years experience in the energy industry and financial reporting areas. Must have demonstrated skills in analysis, financial process controls, reporting and problem solving. Ability to work independently and with all levels of personnel in the corporation.
