PURPOSE OF POSITION: Provide care for residents of facility as directed by licensed staff. Meet social, physical and emotional needs as outlined in care plan. Communicate observations and relevant information to licensed staff. DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY: As a Nursing Assistant/Registered, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. FUNDAMENTAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Food Service Functions (5%)
Serve food trays and nourishments, feed residents (meals and nourishments), and monitor and record required data per facility policyB. Staff Development/Personnel Functions (10%)
Attend and participate in orientation and training offerings
Complete at least 12 hours of continuing education annuallyC. Safety and Sanitation
Participate in all fire safety and disaster preparedness drills in safe and professional manner
Provide and maintain safe caring practices of residents
Follow all facility safety policies and proceduresD. Personal Nursing Care Functions (75%)
Provide resident appropriate assistance with activities of daily living skills in accordance with resident’s individual care plan
Provide rehabilitative, short term, and long term careE. Care Plan Functions (10%)
Review care plans daily to determine change in residents’ conditions
Follow residents’ plans of care when providing assistance to residents
Participation in staff reports and required meetings
Inform appropriate licensed staff of resident condition changes
Perform necessary documentation as required by facility policyF. Resident Rights

Protection of residents’ confidentiality
Report all grievances and complaints made by the resident to the appropriate licensed staffIn addition to the above essential functions, employee(s) must treat residents, staff and visitors with dignity and respect and must know Residents' Bill of Rights. Employee must adhere to good working habits. GENERAL EXPECTATIONS: Must be able to work efficiently with frequent interruptions, be able to distinguish priorities in resident care and follow through with them, must be able to handle difficult and emotionally upsetting circumstances which involve the resident and/or family members. WORKING CONDITIONS: Occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials will occur. Exposure to environmental conditions including dust, fumes, gases, and marked changes in temperature and humidity will occur. Job involves working on unprotected heights and around moving machinery. EQUIPMENT USED: Medical equipment such as patient lifting devices, blood pressure cuffs and stethoscope, thermometer, oximeter, blood glucose monitoring devices, IV equipment, syringes, otoscope, transfer belts, wheel chairs, geri-chairs, commodes, walkers, scales and oxygen equipment. Personal protective equipment such as gloves, gowns, masks, and goggles or shields. QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
Must be currently listed with the State of Minnesota nursing assistant registry or in the process of completing required nursing assistant competency requirements to become eligible for the nursing assistant registry (Nursing assistants will not be allowed to provide resident cares until they have successfully completed the nursing assistant competency requirements and placement on the nursing assistant registry is confirmed.)

Must be 16 years of age, in good physical and mental health
