Position Description



To provide direct nursing care to residents of Ramsey County Care Center, Lake Owasso Residence, or the Ramsey County Detoxification Center; to observe and report the physical condition of residents; to complete triage and health assessments; and to perform related duties as assigned.
Examples of Work Performed:
* Provides direct nursing care to residents by performing measures such as ambulating, range of motion, maintaining and monitoring intravenous therapy under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, and performing emergency measures such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation. * Monitors resident's condition by documenting vital signs, observing monitoring equipment, taking blood pressure, noting intake and output, observing resident behavior and asking them questions. * Administers prescribed treatments such as wound, catheter, tracheotomy, colostomy, ileostomy and gastrostomy care. * Provides medication and other prescribed treatments by transcribing physician orders, ordering medications, and dispensing medications as prescribed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Completion of a practical nursing program approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing. Experience: None Other: Currently licensed as a practical nurse by the State of Minnesota, or have a permit to practice practical nursing authorized by the Minnesota Board of Nursing. Applicants who qualify based on a permit are subject to the limitations prescribed by the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
Exam/Screening Process Information:
No examination will be given for this classification. The names of all applicants who meet the minimum qualifications stated above and who file a properly completed application and supplemental questionnaire will be placed on the eligible list for employment as an LPN. Names will remain on the list for 6 months or until hired, whichever occurs first. A notice will be sent to applicants at the time of posting of the eligible list.
