Overall Summary:

The Trainer is responsible for instructing machine operators in all aspects of running equipment, specific work functions, and accountabilities. The Trainer will monitor each participant's progress against standard operating procedures and quality audits.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct classroom training sessions and on-the-job production floor training; demonstrate sorting, back feeding, and machine operations procedures.

  • Provide hands-on training and monitor the daily performance of trainees to ensure efficient operation of machinery and adherence to proper procedures.

  • Inspect processed materials regularly to ensure quality.

  • Train operators on equipment including: inserting, bindery, affixing and commingling.

  • Provide thorough facility and safety tour for new hires; including emergency exits, restrooms, and safety procedures.

  • Train new hires in the use of the time and attendance system.

  • Ensure thorough understanding of job instructions; machine set-ups, quality procedures, accurate measurements and safe equipment operations.

  • Partner with Quality Coordinators to audit and evaluate trainee's quality performance.

  • Follow established safety procedures, take precautions to avoid hazardous conditions.

  • Perform ergonomic audits to ensure compliance with best practices.

  • Provide performance feedback to supervisors; regarding employee progress in implementing learning.

  • Contribute training process improvement on all applicable machine operations to assure efficiency, quality and safety standards are met.

  • Perform other (or other related) duties as applicable or assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

  • Ability to read and write English and understand oral and written communications.

  • Quality Assurance/Control experience.

  • Detail-oriented and collaborative.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential information.

  • Lean manufacturing experience is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred, or commensurate experience relating to the job required.

  • 1-2 years of Manufacturing or Production environment experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work consecutively 12-hour shifts, rotating 3 or 4 days per week including weekend rotations.

  • Ability to work overtime when needed.

  • Standard climate-controlled production environment; exposure to loud noise (PPE is provided).

  • Ability to lift, carry and push/pull up to 35 pounds.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, pivot, crouch, squat, kneel, and stoop for up to 12 hours.

  • Upper extremity motion requirements: fine motor movements, pushing/pulling with arms, grasping and pinching.

  • Lower extremity motion requirements: reaching.

  • Pre-employment post-offer comprehensive physical assessment required.
