* Being able to perform all aspects of a service worker I position while being a lead
worker directing the actions of others in the installation and maintenance and of traffic signage and roadway markings or other City owned facilities within the city limits.
* Function as a lead worker managing and coordinating work and the progress of projects.
* Assist Foreman in the resolution of complaints and work requests.
* Assist in resolution of personnel issues.
* Train others in all facets of the job, or arrange for training, including equipment
operation, safety procedures and operational policies and procedures.
* Drive, operate, and maintain trucks as needed,
* Perform overhead work with a bucket truck, work with tools such as torches, wet saws, chipping hammers, channel pounders and other tools needed for the job.
* Maintain records of time and other routine records and paper work of time, materials, tools used, etc.
* Work with city departments and citizens to answer questions and resolve complaints and problems.
* Related tasks include working with the following: Replacement and monitoring of traffic calming devices, repair and/or replacement of traffic devices, installation and maintenance of informational and traffic movement signs, coordinate tag and tow operations and placement of signs, barricades and cones, assist in all "snow emergency" operations, ice and graffiti removal, etc.
Working conditions: Constant exposure to the elements, dust, dirt, chemicals, loud noises, gases and traffic.
Minimum Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Experience:
Two years' experience working on traffic facilities or equivalent.
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License
* Considerable knowledge of all aspects of the division assigned to, including occupational hazards and safety precautions.
* Considerable knowledge of tools, equipment and techniques necessary for satisfactory completion of duties.
* Working knowledge of computers and computer inventory system, and payroll.
* Working knowledge of standards of hazards and the standard precautions to be used in the performance of assigned duties.
* Ability to supervise and train subordinate personnel.
* Ability to maintain records and prepare routine reports on work activities supervised.
