Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Area Acoustics Section Manager, we'll count on you to:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Acoustics team, monitor workload, provide ongoing coaching/training, and support marketing efforts.
  • Coordinate with the local area, regional leadership, and HDR's Acoustics program to drive business growth and support key initiatives.
  • Typical tasks include architectural acoustics, mobile source acoustics, environmental noise and vibration related analyses.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships within the local team, technical partners, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Serve as a seller-doer with the responsibility to pursue and win work but also maintain a profitable utilization goal for your team and yourself.
  • Ensure compliance with HDR policies, procedures, quality assurance, and risk management.
  • Prepare and manage scopes of work, budgets, and schedules required for communication efforts, including managing subcontractors.
  • Seek out and participate in industry and community activities as a representative of HDR.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Acoustics, Math, Physics or closely related field
  • A minimum of 10 years management experience
  • Professional registration or license
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Good leadership and organizational skills
  • Familiar with relevant ISO and related acoustical standards
  • Familiarity of local clients and markets
  • Familiar with current guidance documents for acoustical analyses (FHWA, FTA, FRA, USIBC, etc)
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
