About the Unit/Department/Team

This Hospital Nursing Department supports the mission, vision and values of Lakewood Health System. We are a 25 bed Critical Access hospital serving Medical, Surgical, and Swing Bed Patients and Families. Our team consists of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Health Unit Coordinators and Nursing Assistants. The Hospital team provides a plan of care based on Provider instruction and Nursing Care Planning to meet patient goals providing optimal care for their health and safety to promote quality of life.

Mission for Position

The manager is responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of evidence-based practices and care coordination in the Medical-Surgical, Respiratory Therapy, and Wound Care Departments to ensure all patients receive high-quality, personalized care.

Duties & Responsibilities OR Position Summary

The Med-Surg Nurse Manager organizes, directs, coordinates, implements and evaluates the activities of the units to ensure safe, efficient, therapeutically effective, patient and family centered care. The nurse manager is accountable for the day-to-day operations of the Med-Surg Department, as the leader for all med-surg services including IP, Swing Bed, Respiratory Therapy, and Wound Care to achieve the strategic objectives set forth by the Lakewood Health System.

The Med-Surg Manager is responsible for implementing and sustaining nursing standards of practice, departmental quality measures, monitoring clinical outcomes, patient safety initiatives and the Critical Access Hospital regulations pertaining to clinical practice of the departments involved.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Current MN RN licensure in good standing with the MN Board of Nursing
  • BSN preferred or Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Three to five years of current clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting required.
  • Able to work independently and take initiative in completion of tasks.
  • Project Management Skills
