About the Job

Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track or lecturer position in the Business Department at the Crookston campus of the University of Minnesota starting August 2024 or as negotiated at time of hire. Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. A competitive fringe benefits package is offered. Responsibilities

  • Participate in efforts to evaluate and improve the finance curriculum.
  • Deliver high quality instruction to undergraduate students in finance and accounting.
  • Undergraduate student advising; assist with internships; contribute to student recruitment and retention initiatives.
  • Lead the development program of goals and objectives.
  • Participation in course and program assessment and pedagogy of programs.
  • Engage actively in research that leads to publications in highly regarded finance journals.



Responsibilities of the position also include:

1) Teaching basic and advanced courses at the undergraduate level

2) Research in area(s) of expertise,

3) Develop and maintain strong ties to the finance industry to benefit our programs, student experience and student employment opportunities and

4) Regular on campus office hours and engagement in service activities is expected on the University of Minnesota Crookston campus and/or community.

Tenure-track faculty appointments are required to establish and maintain their own research program with a focus on pedagogy or research in an area relevant to the business field . Tenure-line appointments carry a teaching load of no more than 24 credits annually (typically 3-4 courses per semester).

Full-time lecturer appointments are not expected to establish a research agenda. Full-time lecturer appointments carry a teaching load of no more than 30 credits annually.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in the field of finance or relevant business field;
  • Ability to deliver effective teaching at the undergraduate level in both on-campus and on line;
  • Ability to draw upon cultural and community-based knowledge in teaching;
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English;
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills;
  • Commitment to an experiential educational philosophy within the scope of the land grant mission.


Preferred Qualifications

  • PH.D. in Finance with relevant professional experience
  • Three or more years of direct experience in Finance.
  • Expertise in corporate finance, investments, financial markets and institutions, financial technology and analytics, and international finance.
  • University teaching experience;
  • Research experience in an academic institution;
  • Significant relevant experience and accomplishments in the finance industry.
  • Experience creating collaborative partnerships for joint university/community projects;
  • Experience in leading teacher professional development projects;
  • Experience with externally funded projects and grants;
  • Familiarity with computer-based instructional technology;
  • Experience with ACBSP and/or NAB accreditation.
