Company Overview

Rich legacy...financially stable...member-owned

Established in 1925, US Federal Credit Union is Minnesota's oldest financial cooperative. Among our founders is credit union pioneer Thomas W. Doig, who helped establish over 1,000 credit unions during his lifetime.

Today, we are one of the largest and most respected credit unions in the nation. We have a long history of meeting member needs while earning exceptional ratings for financial stability and safety.

Throughout the years, we've been careful to preserve this dedication to our member-owners' financial well-being. Guided by our volunteer board of directors, we will continue our mission of member service for many years to come.

A credit union is a not-for-profit, cooperative, financial institution that is owned and operated by its member-owners:

Because of our unique not-for-profit status, any 'profits' earned are returned to members in the form of better rates on loans and deposits, fewer fees, and investments in new products and services.

A cooperative is formed by individuals banding together to provide each other with a product or service. Cooperatives exist in all types of industries – from grocery stores to utility companies to financial institutions. As you’ve just learned, cooperatives are not motivated by profit. Instead their primary purpose is to serve their members with quality products and services, usually at a lower cost. Therefore with most cooperatives, and particularly with credit unions, the more you participate in our services, the more benefit you’ll receive.

Members - the credit union version of bank customers - are sometimes referred to as member-owners as they hold ownership in the organization through a simple savings account called a Share account. At US Federal, your ownership is defined by a $5.00 balance in a Share Savings Account. That entitles you to participate in the democratic process of electing a Board of Directors to oversee operations and work with the management staff to meet the goals of the organization.

Members may share common characteristics such as employer, industry or geographic locationUS Federal, for example, serves those who live, work, worship, volunteer, or attend school in the Greater Twin Cities CommunitySM. Anyone who falls into one or more of those categories, or has a family members who does, qualifies for membership with US Federal.

Credit unions also offer many of the same products and services that banks provide including savings, checking, loans, and business services.

US Federal Credit Union is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. We encourage candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply.
